The SAR Archives and Special Collections is part of the SAR Genealogical Research Library and overseen by the SAR Library & Archives Committee. It consists of two main collections: the SAR Institutional Archives and original 18th Century two-dimensional documents and artifacts.

The SAR Institutional Archives comprises the records that tell the history of the SAR from 1889-present. It includes minutes and records of annual Congresses, Trustees meetings as well as records from the General Officers. The collection also contains photographs of all the Presidents General as well as early panoramic photos and ephemera of annual Congresses and member certificates. Three-dimensional objects of an institutional nature are also included such as membership badges and medals.

18th century two-dimensional artifacts in the collection include newspapers, currency, pay documents, diaries, and engravings that help tell the story of early America. The collection is always growing, and our current wish list can be found here.
