Research Services offered by the SAR Library & Archives:
The SAR L&A Staff will perform limited research, look-ups, photocopies, and/or consultations via the options below. Please note: the research performed is limited to the resources we have here in the library – both print and digital. If you need research that extends beyond the resources located at the SAR National Headquarters or falls outside the time/submission parameters, please consider hiring a professional genealogist.
Photocopy Request:
SAR Library & Archives staff will provide photocopies of articles, book pages, archival material, etc. as long as you have a citation for the material requested. If you do not have a citation ready, please use the Single Record or Hourly Requests. Photocopy donation rates vary based on how many pages are requested – with beginning rate of $15.00 for the first 25 pages. Standard donation rate includes digital delivery only. Additional fees apply if paper copies are required. Please see forms below for pricing structure. Staff cannot copy materials in violation of U.S. copyright law. All responsibility for infringement of copyright is assumed by the patron. (Title 17, U.S. Copyright Code) This law prevents orders for digitization of an entire book based on age and copyright in place – please see staff for additional information.

Archival Preservation Consultations via Zoom:
Our new Preservation Station provides free archival consultations to those visiting on-site, under general admission. For those unable to visit in person, we offer half-hour virtual Archival Preservation Consultations via Zoom. Our professionally trained archivists will answer your questions about proper handling and storage of your family collections. While we prefer to focus on two dimensional items, such as photos and documents, we can consult on some family heirlooms and/or put you in touch with someone from our museum staff for further assistance. Service is available for a donation of $15.00 or FREE for SAR members and/or Friends of the Library.
Genealogy Research for Application Assistance:
The genealogy department offers hourly research services to help with the documentation necessary for membership applications or supplementals. You can get to the main SAR research services page by clicking the link below:
